Title: Unhack My Brain - Take Control of Your Online Time
Abstract:
Do you ever pick up your phone for one thing and look up and it is 30 minutes later?
Apps, feeds and notifications are designed to keep us clicking and scrolling. In this session we'll look at what happens in our brains when we scroll, click, check email or even just have our phones nearby including how this affects attention, sleep and wellbeing (for you and the next generation). You'll leave better informed with practical strategies to take back your focus and build healthier and safer online habits.
Key takeaways:
- Understand how apps compete for your attention: Learn how notifications, likes, infinite scroll, autoplay and other design features tap into the brain’s reward system and influence focus, mood, memory and sleep.
- Build healthier digital habits and reclaim your focus: Discover simple strategies to reduce distraction, create more intentional screen habits and support yourself and family members to develop a healthier relationship with technology.

This online workshop will run on Friday 6th November from 10:00 am - 11:30 am
