Prevar was established in 2004 to develop and commercialise new apple and pear varieties for New Zealand and global markets, working closely with the Bioeconomy Science Institute through its Plant & Food Research group. Tony will guide guests through the innovation pathway Prevar uses to identify future consumer trends, shape breeding priorities, assess new selections, protect intellectual property and bring premium varieties to market. Prevar’s portfolio includes recognised names such as Rockit, Dazzle, Smitten, Sassy and PIQA Pears.
Held at FoodEast Haumako, Hawke’s Bay’s food innovation hub, this intimate lunch (catered by Long Island Deli) will also include a generous fruit tasting, with Tony bringing a selection of apples and pears for guests to experience first-hand.
